Talibans: Barack Obama’s visit to Afghanistan was an act of “desperation”

Taliban insurgents have said that recent visit of U.S. President Barack Obama in Afghanistan is  an act of desperation “after nine years of war”, said Monday the U.S. central monitoring Islamist websites.

Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on Friday, where he addressed troops at Bagram air base and they said it would “fail the mission.”

According to the Taliban, these optimistic statements on the conflict contrasts with the vision of U.S. military and public skepticism.

“Obama and the United States should not continue (in Afghanistan), using their strength and energy in a country where no power can take over”, say Taliban, their message dated Sunday and translated by SITE.

In their view, the very manner in which Obama’s visit took place on the ground, where it remained only a few hours, showing how far the international coalition is to win the war.

“Rapid and secret visit to Afghanistan, Obama  held a press conference without being organized and without him to meet with any official of the administration (of President Hamid Karzai) and his escape from Afghanistan took place in full night, “said Taliban.

According to the White House, during Obama’s visit, bad weather forced the president to remain at Bagram, where he just had a telephone conversation with Hamid Karzai.
