A landslide buried 200 people in Colombia

200 people were buried alive in Colombia, following a landslide. One person was killed and three others were rescued. Authorities say the chances of survival of those trapped under the mud, drop by the hour.

The disaster took place in a suburb of MedellĂ­n, Colombia. Witnesses say have gone through the nightmare moments.

Dozens of homes were covered with earth ,having  200 people inside. Intervention teams work against the clock in an attempt to find as many as possible in life. They were joined by 300 volunteers.

Relatives of those missing gathered at the site of the tragedy awaiting news of loved ones. But authorities have given them bad news. Chances of survival of those who was buried decline rapidly with time.

The landslide was caused by torrential rains affecting Colombia for several weeks. Rain and floods have caused that death of over 170 people and made a million and half of affected people.
